Staff and patients at Hollinwood Medical Practice, Oldham, are celebrating with the news that the GP inspecting body the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated the surgery overall as “Outstanding”.
The Inspectors spent a full day at the practice talking with staff and patients to gather a clear picture of the service. Hollinwood Medical Practice, gained “outstanding” in four out of the five areas and a high “good” in the area of patient safety.
Hope Citadel Healthcare CIC, which oversees the site, also runs Hill Top Surgery, Oldham, Middleton Health Centre and Hawthorn Medical Centre in Levenshulme. Hollinwood Medical Practice is the first of these to be inspected.
The company practices “whole person healthcare”, employing on-site counsellors and a Community Nurse to help support patients who often fall between the gaps of social and medical care in a Focused Care approach. The report explains; “Specifically, we found the practice to be outstanding for providing caring, responsive, effective and well-led services. They were outstanding for providing services to most of the population groups, specifically those who were vulnerable. We also found that safe services were good.”
